In 1996, he was ordained and installed as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Reverend Griffin served as the Pastor of two churches, Mt. Vernon and Mocksville Second PCUSA, as well as The Associate for Evangelism for five churches in the Salem Presbytery’s Freedom Ministry. In February 1999, he was called and installed as the pastor of Chestnut Street Presbyterian in Wilmington, NC where he served faithfully for the next fourteen years. On May 18, 2013, he answered the call as pastor to both Aimwell Presbyterian in Round O, SC and Hopewell Presbyterian in Walterboro, SC.
Rev. Griffin is a Board-Certified Chaplain with The Association of Professional Chaplain and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. He has served on several community boards and facilitated numerous workshops for the church and community. In 2001, he was nominated and voted in as one of the 100 Most Loved Pastor’s, in the magazine Gospel Today. He has written and published two articles, “The Black/African Origins of Christianity,” and “The Black Church: We’ve Come This Far by Faith.” The scripture that best reflects Reverend Griffin’s philosophy is Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have”.
